Provo & Salt Lake with Leslie

Carson and Camden really wanted hike up to the "Y" so we went one morning to give it a try.

 It wasn't too long of a trail but it had 10 switch backs since it was a pretty steep climb. 

 Camden didn't want to finish the hike at about turn 4 so Carson and I decided to do it together.  He would keep track of what turn we were on and then pick a nice shady spot to rest if we needed it. 

Carson posing like a "Y" at the trail end.  We did it.  Not without a little huffing and puffing on my part however.  Carson went the last little bit by himself and then hiked around on the "Y" for a bit.  Just when we were getting ready to head back down the mountain we saw Camden and Leslie turning the last turn at the top.  The boys had fun.

The boys wanted to make sure that we are at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Provo. 

We even got to sit in the train so they were happy.

 Leslie had made arrangements with Marci to stay at her house in Highland.  One night Marci and her daughters, Brooklyn, Ellie and Sophie came to dinner to Cafe Rio and then we went out for ice cream at Sub Zero.  All the kids got along so well that it made for a really nice visit.

One morning while Leslie met up with Kristie and Marci to take their kids swimming I drove over to the Draper Temple.  I didn't even think that they wouldn't have clothing rental, but since it is a smaller temple they didn't.  I ended up doing Initiatory which was a really nice way to spend my morning.  What a beautiful temple and right by Valerie and Clint's new home in Draper.

We went two different days to Seven Peaks Waterpark which was a great way to spend the day. 

 Super cool!  We picked up the girls from EFY and then changed after breakfast and headed

over to Seven Peaks on the last day.

 Leslie found out about the Salt Lake Connect Pass whick was a great deal.  The pass got you into about a dozen different locations in the Salt Lake area.  The first place we went to was the Discovery Children's Museum.  The boys had alot of fun there.

How strong is an egg?  Apparently about 75 pounds. 

Camden was selected to participate in the group presentation. 

The Heritage Village at the "This Is The Place' really gave you a feeling for the time period of the early saints in the Salt Lake Valley.  We found out that they do girls camp and youth conferences at the location.  Wouldn't that be awesome?

Each of the little area had hands on activities so that you could see how the early pioneers lived.

Natural History Museum on the campus of University of Utah.  Several of the places we visited were fairly new - opened within the last 2 years.

The pool was the training area for the distance ski jump. 

They would head down the run and then land in the water.

I had never been up to Park City before so I was very interested in checking the area out. 

Leslie, Carson and Camden all took a turn going down the zip line that was set up for summer fun where the ski run is located.  It turned out to be a stormy afternoon so we were

lucky to be able to do this activity.

Park City is the home of the United States Olympic Park training facility for winter athletes.  The

boys got to pose with some of the things on display.

I was completely exhausted at the end of our day in Salt Lake  City.  The pass was so nice because we had just a taste of what these venues had to offer.  I would love to come back and see even more.

A long time Salt Lake tradition is the Lion House.  Our connect pass included a discount on thee Lion House Pantry so we waited and had dinner there.  The rolls are to die for.  Yummy

Our last stop of the night was the Clark Planetarium. 

Last year while attending EFY Briton met a guy that she liked and has been texting and calling back and forth all year.  Their plan was to go on a date after EFY now that Briton is officially 16 years old as of July 1st.  The girls went on a double date on the way home.  Leslie and I headed back to BYU and took the boys bowling at the Wilkinson Center and then hit the bookstore for some treats to take home.  Then later that evening we picked the girls up in Spanish Fork and drove home, getting in about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday.  I was sooooooo tired.  What a great trip!
