Jennie was asked to help recruit some volunteers for the first "Viva Bike Vegas", which was put on by the RTC. Amy, Jennie, myself, Kelsie, Adrianne, and Robert helped at one of the rest/aid stations. It was really a great event with about 900 cyclists. This was Allison's first bike ride and her goal was simply to finish the 50 mile course with her sister in law and friend. Chad and Allison purchased some new bikes with the click in shoes and have been training for a while. There would be times at our station when big groups or packs of riders would go by or stop for a drink and quick snack. We were so excited when we saw Allison finishing the last leg of the ride which started near I-15 and the downtown area near Alta Drive then went west through Red Rock and Blue Diamond areas for the 50 mile.

Chad has done two triathalons this year. The first was at Lake Las Vegas during the summer and then just recently he finished the Pumpkinman held near Boulder City. They start out swimming, then bike and then run. Brutal! What was the most surprising to me was the average age of the participants is around 35. We had so much fun cheering Chad on and snapping pictures of him completing the race.
